UNIQUE INDIA LETTER QUEENBORO MARK; Remarkable 14 Aug. 1834 EL (central file fold; hinge remainder on front) 'p Bengal' to London with framed "CALCUTTA/G.P.O" d.s., London cds and mostly v.fine framed "INDIA LETTER/QUEENBORO" h.s. all applied to rear - illustrated by Robertson at page E250 and the only recorded example of this mark. Rated '1/6'(d) on front and stained from vinegar disinfection but not slit and representing a procedural error. Major exhibition item.
