A worksplate, VANGUARD LOCOMOTIVE, 210V, AUG 1969, THOMAS HILL, KILNHURST. In 1969 Thomas Hill supplied a number of three-unit ‘Mater and Slave’ locomotives to the British Steel Corporation, Lackenby Works, Teesside. These consisted of a ‘Master’ locomotive of 278HP which could be coupled to one or two ‘Slave’ units to provide more power. 210V was such a Slave locomotive, supplied in September 1969 to work with Master locomotive 203V and Slave 209V. All were withdrawn and scrapped by 1982. Cast brass, 7½"x4½", the front lightly cleaned. (Postage Band: B)
