A satinwood, tulipwood, marquetry and ebony dressing table, dressing mirror and stool, by Max Cooper, 1981, in neo classical style, the oak lined drawers with concealed relief, dressing table 73.5cm h; 46 x 91cm

Provenance: Dressing table commissioned by the family of the present vendor in 1981 at a cost of £1400.

The dressing table is described on the maker's invoice in the following terms "Marquetry dressing table in satinwood with tulipwood crossbanding and ebony lines. Ten other woods are used to make up the marquetry decoration which is designed in the neo classical fashion... Drawers are lined in oak, which have an inner lining of sandalwood. The large centre drawer... is fitted out with bubinga wood compartments...At the back of this drawer can be found six secret drawers"
