Irish Leitrim Rifles Militia Victorian Officer pre 1881 pouch belt plate. Fine rare die-cast silvered crown LEITRIM RIFLES tablet surmounting heavy shamrock sprays; centrally a Celtic cross with Harp to centre. Four screw posts; complete with backing plate. VGC Raised in 1793 at Carrick-on-Shannon as Leitrim Militia, redesignated Leitrim Rifles in 1855 and became 8th Bn. Rifle Brigade on Friday 1st July 1881. Disbanded 31st July 1889.
