A GEORGE III IRISH TWO-HANDLED CUP & COVER. with twin leaf-capped scroll handles, a bright engraved frieze around the cover, rim & around the foot and a fluted finial, inscribed "TO THE REV'D. FRANCIS EDWARD LASCELLES A SMALL TOKEN FROM THE PARISHIONERS OF GLASNEVIN OF THEIR HIGH APPROBATION OF HIS CONDUCT DURING HIS RESIDENCE WITH THEM & IN PARTICULAR OF HIS MOST LIBERAL PLAN & UNREMITTED LEAL FOR THE EDUCATION & MORALS OF THE POOR CHILDREN OF THEIR PARISH JAN'Y 8TH 1795", crested, by Matthew West, Dublin 1786; 12" (30.5cm) high; 38.3ozt. *CR A bit worn, bright & polished, leans a bit and rocks in place, cover has been dropped (finial pushed in), quite a bit of fire staining all over and marks on the body have almost been lost in the decoration but nice marks on the cover.
