CUBA/U.S.A./FRANCE - "COLONIES/ART-18" ON SAME COVER AS "ART-5/B.R.PKT" - TO FRANCE VIA NEW YORK: 18 Aug 1856 (filing note on front) unpaid env. (flap faults) to Bordeaux with "HAVANA" British Post Office cds (22 Sept.) on reverse & fine blue octagon boxed "R.MORISON & Co./HAVANA" Forwarding Agent Cachet (Rowe rarity "3", 1853-6) on the front. It was sent to New York & shipped from there to Liverpool & so has an "AMERICA/LIVERPOOL" cds (13 Oct.) & matching v.fine (though partly overstruck) "ART-5/P.R.PKT" both on the reverse; the mainly v.fine orange-red boxed "COLONIES/ART-18" mark was then applied in transit in London.
