A mid 19th century Turkish cavalry officers sword, curved, fullered blade 33½”, clipped back at tip, deeply etched with traces of gilding, on both sides, with (top to bottom) star, crescent Man-in-moon, 2 stars, trophy of arms, 2 stars and Turks head, engraved brass hilt, with faint traces of gilt, crossguard and quillon, langets with crossed lances and wreath (inner langet, device missing from outer) pronounced ornamental knucklebow, flattened lion’s head pommel, panelled backstrap with ears to leather grip, in its leather scabbard, the brass locket with floral panel of crossed pick and hammer, panelled middle band and plain chape, 2 rings, small no “20” stamped on various parts.
