An early 19th century long Greek Islands cross stitch pelmet (hanging), embroidered on coarse linen with brown silk, using cross stitch, designed in horizontal rows of similar symbols, the lower row being a smaller size, designed with top and bottom borders, possibly originally the border to a larger wall hanging, not as a pelmet, 41cm deep, 254cm long

There are dark patches on the cross stitch embroidery, which has also worn away along the bottom border in one place and is deteriorating elsewhere, the linen backing has light stains due to age.
