Paul Rimbault, Soho, London, a chiming ebonised bracket clock the eight-day duration, triple-fusee movement, now with an anchor escapement, chiming the quarters on a nest of ten bells and the hour on a further bell and having a fully engraved backplate with foliate decoration, the seven-inch brass break-arch dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, the centre engraved Paul Rimbault, Denmark Street, Soho, London, 1771, with cast-brass c-scroll spandrels, the arch with a later selection for Whittington Chimes, Eight Bell Chimes, 10 Bell Chimes, Strike/Silent, the stepped ebonised case with gilt-brass caryatid mounts to the canted corners, gilt-brass pineapple finials to the four corners and surmounted by a caddy top with brass handle, height 53cm. Biography: Paul Rimbault is recorded as working in Denmark Street, Soho, London from before 1770 until at least 1785. With alterations.
