Oak boarded chest, late 17th Century, width 114cm, depth 39cm, height 50cm
The top board has some losses along the back edge. Replaced wrought iron strap hinges. There is a repaired corner on the front of the board. There is old woodworm damage on the front left corner of the top board. A shadow of the original hinge clasp. There are ring marks but overall a nice colour. The left hand side panel is a replacement.
The lockplate appears to be contemporary with the piece. There are some losses on the bottom edge of the piece. There is a split on the front left of the front panel. A loose joint on the right hand side.
Overall an interesting early piece.
