WRECK OF THE S.S. EBRO - RARE COVER WITH PURPLE (ABERDEEN?) "DAMAGED BY/SEA WATER" CACHET; 12 Mar. 1942 long commercial env. from Reykjavik to GB at the 45a rate (with 45a Geysir) having British 6028 censor label also having a very fine purple off-centre "DAMAGED BY/SEA WATER" cachet (presumably struck at the Aberdeen P.O.) on the front. This wreck has been clearly identified by Hoggarth & Gwynn (p.267) as that of the Danish SS Ebro wrecked off the Aberdeen coast en route to Hull.
