A rare Anglo Indian cast metal and wood model of the Zamzamah cannon gun displayed on a wooden plinth, late 19th century. Modelled with functioning wheels including the trail wheel and detachable cannon balls. The metal plaques to the plinth inscribed ‘ZAMZAMAH Scale 1=25ft’ and ‘A Manufacture of Ordnance Depot Lahore Cantt’. The cannon referred to as the Bhangian Di Toph or Zamzama/Zamzamah belonging to the Bhangi Misl was a massive heavyweight 80 pounder gun originally cast in Lahore for King Ahmad Shah Durrani in 1757 being used until its decommission in 1870. Another name for the gun is Kim’s gun after the protagonist in the novel entitled Kim by Rudyard Kipling. Cannon: 18.5 cm length, 7.5 cm height. Plinth: 29.5 cm length, 21.6 cm width.
