John Philip was a member of the 2nd bn D.C.L.I, 44th regiment, he participated in the 1882 campaign in Egypt including the battles of Kassassin 26th Aug & 9th Sept 1882 & Tel-el-Kebir 13th Sept 1882, in which the 2nd battalion took a prominent part. 19 pages in original boards which are faded, the front cover gilt insignia also faded, with the stamp of the president official mess D.C.L.I. 15/10/38 and the name Col Turner D.C.L.I, a scarce copy.
