A William IV Newton's 12 inch 'New Improved Terrestrial Globe Embracing Every Recent Discovery To The Present Time' dated London January 1st 1836 with a brass meridian ring on a mahogany tripod stand with ebony rings and inlay, the legs with low stretcher mounted with an earlier 12.5cm compass by Dudley Adams, full height 95cm. Provenance: Michael Trethewey. A Gentleman of Taste. We are delighted to be selling in this sale and over forthcoming sales, items from the estate of the collector Michael Trethewey. Michael had an unerring eye for quality. He was a frequent visitor to these auction rooms, an elegantly dressed, unassuming man who bought well and had a singular passion for old school antiques.
