By George Bellas Greenough c1820, a set of four maps covering England and Wales detailing the canal network to date, printed paper cut and mounted on linen. The group marked as "Unfinished Proof" with each sheet carrying annotations relating to the canal network and the author's name and details - "G B Greenough, 2 Parilament Street, Westminster" - the hand being consistent for all applied notes. Maps contained in a contemporary square paper box binder, and accompanied by a letter, dated 2 October 1973, discussing their significance from noted canals author Charles Hadfield. Each sheet 95.5 x 80cm, some staining and insect damage.
