COVER TO FRANCE; 23 Jan. 1807 EL (closed flap tears) from "Capitaine Malard" a POW held "On Board the 'Sandwich', Prison Ship in Chatham Harbour" to a friend in Paray charged "10" (via Morlaix); with mention that a reply should be sent "to Morlaix endorsed for the English Cartels rather than French ones". The only recorded cover sent to or from this Prison Ship; letters written by POWs on the Hulks are much rarer than those addressed to the Hulks.
