Pair: BWM and Victory bi-lingual issue (Pte. B.C.S. Timms 4th S.A.I), VF, with copies of service papers and 3 copy pages from War Diary. Pte Bertie Cecil Smith Timms, 4th S.A. Infantry B. Coy attested 18th August 1915, aged 23. On 17th July 1916 while at Delville Wood he was wounded/missing and accepted as dead. War Diary states "17.7.1916 B & C Coys moved during morning through Longueval, into Delville Wood, B Coy at first occupied line from Cameron Redoubt to Cemetery afterwards withdrawing to Cameron Redoubt, after heavy xpose(?) from Maxim fire and occupied trench with Camerons in front of redoubt retaining position till almost midnight..." "B & C Co remained all day and night in the sunken trenches, very heavily shelled and had a good many casualties". Pte Timms is commemorated at the Thiepval memorial. £100-150
