1889-S Sydney gold Sovereign with first legend, the 'G:' distant from the crown (Marsh 140, Dish S12, S 3868B). Obverse: Jubilee Head bust of Queen Victoria, facing left with small crown, 'VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:' around, larger type gap between 'G:' and crown. Reverse: St George slaying a dragon, the date (1887) below and a tiny 'S' mintmark to the ground for the Sydney branch of the Royal Mint. Edge: milled. Grade: AU 50. Sealed in NGC holder (#2915842-001).
