** BRISTOL (STAPLETON) P.O.W. CAMP COVER TO FRANCE WHERE IT WAS TURNED & RE-POSTED; 4 Nov. 1812 EL (family news) from POW "Montcheuil" to his brother near Bordeaux endorsed "not paid" in red (at the Transport Office in London?) and charged "10[decimes]" (from Morlaix to which the cartel ship took the letter on behalf of the Transport Office) with a mainly fine "DEB. 32/BORDEAUX" on the reverse. It was then turned, readdressed to their father and reposted to Bazar (charged "4" with faint "LA TETE DE BUCH"). [See MFPWE, p.151.] Cross Reference: MILITARY - P.O.W.
