AN INTERESTING ARCHIVE OF MILITARY RELATED ITEMS WHICH BELONGED TO A FLIGHT ENGINEER 2221490 CYRIL STOCKLEY R.A.F., who flew on Stirling Bombers in World War 2, with copied extracts from original paperwork, which saw him as a participant in OPERATION VARSITY on March 24th, 1945, the largest 1 day operation of Glider and Airborne assaults on German forces in WW2 , the archive consists of two flight helmets, one is black, WW2 era, complete with attached goggles/red lens, the second is believed to be post WW2 with Stockleys details in pen inside, a black period Gas mask tin containing a filter with Stockley scratched into the paintwork, a Smiths brand Mk14A Aircraft Altimeter, a pair of Ministry marked Headphones(crows foot) but in a GPO 1963 bag, a copy of the Stirling Bomber by MJF Bowyer, and a RAF kitbag with Cyril Stockleys details written on, the paperwork, consists copies of his Aircrew Categorisation Card, with photo, an original 3rd edition copy of Pilots & flight engineers notes by the Air Council, copied pages from Stockleys Service Book noting his discharge in 1947, pages from his flying logbook, which details missions and flights inc Op Varsity, and colour copies of his medals etc, all in all a fine archive to this Flight Engineer who helped prosecute the final days of WW2 against the Germans
