A WALNUT OPEN ARMCHAIR, 17th century and later, the rectangular high back and seat upholstered in needlework worked with a figure carrying grapes, flanked by a bacchanite riding a ram to either side, the seat with four peacocks, close nailed tassel fringing, on barley-twist and square framing (needlework part contemporary and restoration, lower foot replaced and other restoration).
Provenance: Previously on loan to the National Trust at Beningbrough Hall
