TITANIC/MARCONI:
TITANIC/MARCONI: Unusual 1912 bronze medallion, signed and dated Eugène Jean De Bremaecker, a noted Belgian sculptor and medallion maker. De Bremaecker was fascinated by Wireless Telegraphy and spent time at Marconi’s Broomfield Research Station in London around 1904. The medallion was commissioned by La Société des Amis Hollandaise-Belge de la Medaille d’Art and features a torch and names the ‘geniuses’ and ‘heroes’ of telegraphy, including Sir Oliver Lodge, Marconi, Jack Binns of the Republic and Phillips and Bride of Titanic. An angel seated on telegraph cable lines is on the reverse.
