C.G.H. - OVAL "Ship Letter/DEAL" WITH OVAL "SHIP LETTER/CAPE OF GOOD HOPE" COVER REF. LOST SHIP; 5 May 1813 EL from "Cape Town" to Stirling with fine double-oval "SHIP LETTER/[Crown]/CAPE OF GOOD HOPE" (overstruck by red Edinburgh transit cds) and fine double-oval "Ship Letter/[Crown]/DEAL" on the front as well as a fine large boxed "Addl½" (london?). The contents concern a tartan shipment ordered (by the 93rd Regiment) in early 1812 (!) which has not yet arrived; "...it has probably been lost or taken as the ship on board which it was shipped in Augt. 1812 has never yet reached this Port...".
