* Anne Bullitt, the recipient of this volume, was the daughter of Wm. Bullitt, first American Ambassador to Russia, and also to France and personal friend of President F. D. Roosevelt. She lived for a time at Palmerstown House, Co. Kildare. Their Estate at Oxmoor was one of the earliest in America to utilise slave labour.
