A late 18th century mourning pendant; the obverse depicting a full-length weeping young woman and man standing either side of an applied classical urn on plinth with elaborate seed pearl and gold decoration, below a banner inscribed 'Tho lost to sight to memory dear', the reverse containing hair and with the monogram 'EG' in seed pearls to the yellow-gold border and suspensory loop (4cm diameter) The inscription was used in poems and songs throughout the late 18th and 19th centuries
