1899 QSA 3 clasps Cape Colony, OFS, South Africa 1901 to 29866 Pte W. Ballard 65th Coy Imp Yeo, 1914 Star trio & plaque to 8109 Pte W. Ballard Yorks L.I. (Walter Ballard on plaque), polished thus fine or better, modern swing mounted. Walter Ballard was killed in action with 2nd Bn on 30th October 1914 and is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial.
With copied MIC, Soldiers Died, CWGC and Boer casualty list, he was wounded slightly in South Africa 1/1/01 and again at Jacobsdal 12/7/01, issued a bar and roses to star, from Leicester. (R)
