WW2 Air Crew Europe Star un-named as issued attributed to 939553 Sgt Herbert Walter Green R.A.F. good very fine. He was killed in action when his Wellington bomber of 115 Sqn crashed in the channel with the loss of all the crew after a bombing raid on the German heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper in Brest docks on 3rd March 1941. He is listed as the front gunner and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. With RAF condolence slip to Sergeant H.W. Green, 30 Oct 1940 long letter written by Green to a friend, his address on the letter is Dugdale St, Nuneaton. In the letter he says " I am more or less OK now. I still have scars on the backs of my hands & face, but apart from the fact my nerves are still a little bad, I am just about in my usual state of health." It may be that he was involved in a damaged aircraft incident. With copied CWGC, Bomber Command losses and 115 Sqn event summary for the start of March 1941.
