1921 Essays in black pen for the English and Arabic value tablets for a proposed but unissued 18c stamp, on thick card and tracing paper. A narrow design essay drawn on tracing paper (58x58mm) endorsed "18 Cents Zanzibar" and dated "15th Nov. 21", affixed to thin card (87x73mm); the second wider design essay on thick card (89x114mm) endorsed "30th Nov. 1921, Zanzibar 122/21, 18 Cents", further signed and dated "approved, Charles V. Smith, 9.12.21". Additional 4c, 8c and 20c values were issued in 1922 but this proposed 18c value was not issued despite this value essay having been approved. A unique pair of essays. (2).
