1903 1a essay in green on wove paper (gummed, with backing adhesion), the aborted issue with the Nawab's portrait, an imperforate block of twenty-four, (6x4, being the right six columns of a sheet with full margins on three sides). Printed from a plate of 32 (8x4), produced by Crowl & Co Baltimore, USA, between 1899-1903 and eventually delivered to Junagadh in late 1903. The Junagadh State Press would later produce proofs in red, green and mauve on laid and wove papers, based on the essay design. Some imperfections, creases, still an impressive and highly unusual multiple. Rare.
