A CHINESE MANDARIN CIVIL RANK BADGE, 19/20TH CENTURY. Depicting a silver pheasant for the fifth rank above waves with pine trees and sun, detailed in gold and silver thread. Mounted in a silk embroidered frame with green ground backing. Total size 35cm x 34cm.
Provenance: From the estate of a prominent Peranakan family, Khoo Sian Ewe (1886 - 1964), thence by descent.
Overall good condition with only very minor loose threads in places.
