MARTINS POISON BOTTLE. (DP p29). 6.4ins long. Aqua glass, familiar U shape patented bend in neck. Unusual square edged lip. No capacity under the lip but this is a 6oz size, itself very rare. Embossed one side POISON/ NOT TO BE TAKEN, other side THE MARTIN/ POISON BOTTLE/ PATENT (other examples carry the word Patented). Also features the line SOLE MANUFACTURERS on the base - a variant not recorded in Deadly Pleasures. The several embossing differences make this an exceptional offering, believed only the second such ever found - the only other example sold by AA Auctions for just over £3,000. Apart from a few minor, internal, possibly residue marks, there is no damage.
