Property of a deceased estate - John Le Conte (Scottish, 1816-1887) - 'IN OLD WEST BOW, MAJOR WEIR'S HOUSE, OLD ASSEMBLY ROOMS SITE OF DR. GUTHRIES CHURCH, AND LAWN MARKET, EDINBURGH' - watercolour, 21.25 by 14.85ins. (54 by 37.7cms.), in glazed gilt frame - signed lower right & dated 1878. Provenance - with old ink manuscript bill dated 19 May 1878 for Ten Guineas from Mr Shand, London, stating that this watercolour was exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh.
