Completed by Harland & Wolf in 1943 as a tank landing ship, Boxer was capable of carrying 13 Churchill tanks, 27 other vehicles and 193 men - including the comedian Spike Milligan when he served with the Royal Artillery. She was refitted as a fighter direction ship for the Normandy Landings in 1944. Post-war she became a radar training ship, took part in the Coronation Review and was scrapped in 1958.
