Westley Richards .451, Patent "Monkey Tail" breech loading Carbine for the Cavalry. The carbine is loaded at the breech but fired through a percussion cap placed on the nipple. Lock is marked "Westley Richards 1860". The Monkey Tail lever marked "Westley Richards Patent", SN:362, barrel 23" to breech block, carbine is in fine condition throughout. Lacks ramrod (not unusual), butt swivel missing. This carbine has a mid barrel half band, which identifies it as one of the 600 Carbines supplied to the Colonial Government of Victoria, Australia, and issued to the Victorian Volunteers during their own "Wild West" years in the 1860's. Collector grade piece, dated on the lock 1860. GWO & Condition, Full stocked walnut stock. No licence required
