Victorian hand decorated china dessert service, circa 1840-60, possibly by Coalport, comprising eighteen 23.5cm diameter plates, a tall comport, and eight shaped serving dishes, each decorated with a romanticised landscape in sepia tones, within a gilt embellished buff border (27)
All the plates have stacking wear to the gilt line around the centre (some extensive). Scratches to the central painted details. Wear to the gilt edge. One is riveted. One has hair cracks.
Of the eight shaped dishes, there are two square, which are both badly cracked; two oval which both have stacking wear and wear to the gilt; and four shell shaped, all of which have stacking wear. One of these also has stress fractures within the glaze, around the centre and another is riveted.
