AN IMPRESSIVE, LARGE, ELIZABETH I CARVED OAK TERM, PROBABLY DEPICTING ATLAS, CIRCA 1580. Designed as a moustached and bearded male, a tied sash across his naked torso, his right-hand raised supporting a fruit-filled basket, the left-hand resting on a scroll carved plinth, centred by a lion mask, and hung with a bold leafy-tassel, 57cm high, 17cm wide.
