Obverse: second larger head of Queen Victoria with hair bound up in a double fillet, 'VICTORIA DEI GRATIA' around with the date (1848) below. Raised 'W.W.' initials to truncation for William Wyon. Reverse: crowned shield of royal arms within a wreath, 'BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:' around. Annual mintage: 2,246,701. Composition: 9167 gold. Weight: 7.96g. Diameter: 22.05mm.
