A COLLECTION OF SECOND WORLD WAR GERMAN WAFFEN-SS 1ST SS-PANZER- DIVISION 'LEIBSTANDARTE' OFFICERS' MESS CUTLERY. Leibstandarte Officers' Mess cutlery in 'German Silver' comprising three table spoobs and a pair of sugar tongs, each engraved with the 'L.A.H.' monogram. Marked for Wellner-Sohne' (the same maker as used by Hermann Goring). See Mollo 'Uniforms of the SS', Vol.3 p.57, fig 2, for an illustration of this monogram. These items are said to have been looted by the Russians in 1945 from the Leibstandarte's barracks at Lichterfelde in Berlin.
