John St Aubyn. Hand written notebook, 1837. Bound in full green morocco with gilt tooling and the words John St Aubyn, 1837, gilt stamped on front board. The note book contains approx 28pp of mss and the first page reads ‘’Dedication to Papa’’ . My dearest papa, it is my greatest pleasure to be able to present to you my first translation of a French story (The Two Cages) & wishing it may please you, I remain, your effete son John St Aubyn, Nov 25th, 1837. Probably Sir John St Aubyn Bart (1829-1908), created baron St. Leven, 1887. Eldest son of Sir Edward St. Aubyn Bart. Deputy Lieutant of Cornwall M.P. for West Cornwall; One of the commissioners to enquire into the condition of mines in Greatt Britain in 1862. Loosely inserted an indenture signed by R. Pole-Carew and J. St Aubyn, dated 12th Dec 1834 and a letter from Edward St Aubyn, dated 14th Jan 1900. In a fine condition.
