Awarded to Sergeant Richard Hollows MM* French Medaille Militaire, a native of Hemsworth Yorkshire a veteran of the Gallipoli landings and won his gallantry trio on the Western Front. Comprising: Military Medal & Bar, (18619 SJT R. HOLLOWS 6/ E YORK R), 1914/15 Star, (18619 PTE E YORK R), British War Medal, Victory Medal (18619 SJT E YORK R), French Medaille Militaire, Group mounted for display with a quantity of research. Military Medal Bar London Gazette 20th August 1919 Military Medal London Gazette 24th January 1919 French Medaille Militaire London Gazette 15th December 1919 Confirmed in Regimental Magazine Sergeant Richard Hollows was born in 1892 and in the pre war years was a local Skipping and Wrestling champion. He enlisted into the East Yorkshire Regiment being posted to the 6th Bn. He landed at the Gallipoli on the 8th September 1915, the Battalion was then withdrawn and transferred the Western Front in July 1916.
