Bristol Zoo - a large mid-century enlarged photograph of Bristol Zoo Gorilla 'Samson', with a flower in his mouth. Originally taken by Bristol Post newspaper photographer Martin Chaney, the story behind this photo is that London Zoo had sent a female gorilla - Lomi - to Bristol Zoo Gardens as part of a new breeding programme. Sampson had managed to remove a flower from outside his enclosure and placed it within his mouth. 'A Flower For Lomi' was the caption that accompanied this photograph when first published. Framed and glazed, framers label to rear. Total size approx: 90cm x 110cm.
