A 19th century long Chinese silk woman’s sleeveless vest, or tabard, Xiapei , Qing Dynasty, bearing Civilian Rank Badges to both sides, the embroidery in couched gold thread, with a red moon, the coat extensively embroidered with five clawed dragons, cranes and birds in flight, flowers and waves, the birds and dragons with couched gold thread, the rear with elaborate dragon, the whole with brown braid with gold detail, the hem with macramé and silk fringing in several colours, lined in a lightweight pink silk, approx. 128 cm from shoulder to bottom of the fringes
