I CHRISTMAS 1726 DATED SEALED ENGLISH ONION. Unrecorded in Burton. 6.8ins tall. Classic English pancake style onion wine bottle in typical black (dark green) glass. Base kick up, crude pontil, tapering neck (attractive striations), with distinctive pointy string rim (see close up - probable in use slight damage). Large, well struck, low body seal, simply READS: I/ Chriftmas/ 1726. Apart from lip damage & some general ageing/ wear, commensurate with age, a very fine example.
