RAF 1943 Escape Pattern Flying Boots. In the form of black leather Oxford style lace-up shoes with black suede sheepskin lined uppers, which are fastened by metal zippers and secured by single leather strap/steel buckle arrangements at the tops. Soles are leather. Boots designed so that during escape and evasion the upper suede section could be cut away by using a folded knife concealed in a pocket in the sheepskin lining of the right boot. Knife now absent. Boots immaculate and showing no signs of wear. Shoes complete with their original laces. Formerly the property of an RAF pilot who trained in Rhodesia during WW2 and later went on to be a civilian airline pilot
