After Maurice Quentin de La Tour (1704 - 1788) Portrait of Prince Charles Edward Stuart, known as ''Bonnie Prince Charlie'', half-length, wearing armour, the Order of the Thistle on a blue silk ribbon and a lace cravat, his hair dressed a la mode oil on canvas, 77cm x 62cm La Tour's pastel portrait of the Jacobite claimant was exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1748, subsequently engraved by Michel Aubert (1700 - 1757), before the prince's banker George Waters lent it to Maria Anna Louisa Jablonowska, Princesse de Talmont (1711 - 1779) for several copies to be rendered between 1751 and 1752; the present whereabouts of the original portrait are as yet unknown.
