Japanese Late Meiji period (1868-1912) blue-ground globular Satsuma vase, finely painted and gilt with two lobed cartouches, one with figures walking in prunus strewn parkland, with a river in the distance, the other side with cockerels amongst bamboo and flowers, the neck moulded with mythical beasts, reserved on a blue ground gilt with leafy sprigs, the underside with impressed four character seal mark, inscribed open book mark, 22.5cm high

Overall in good order. There is a small area of rubbing to the edge of one gilt cartouche and to a small area of the gilt sky. Requires a gentle clean.
