An exceptionally rare 19th century Staffordshire earthenware Leech Jar and Cover likely by Samuel Alcock but seemingly unmarked, early to mid 19th century, the body of tapering form with twin handles and decorated in puce and gilt with leaves and gadroons and inscribed on a label: LEECHES. the pierced cover with fluted knop, approx 31cm tall
