Star Lot: A fantastic limited edition 5 / 35 plate etching attributed to Catherine Delaney (Irish, b.1965) titled 'Pram'. Signed 'C. Dalaney' bottom right. Features an antique pram study of her famous sculpture Moore street Pram. Housed in a wooden frame behind glass.
Catherine Delaney, is a well known Irish artist with her bronze sculpture works fetching into the thousands.
Catherine Delaney, daughter of celebrated sculptor Edward Delaney, was born in Dublin in 1965 and graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 1984. She continued her study in sculpture at the Johnson Atelier in Princeton, New Jersey, USA where she secured a scholarship to continue studying in the area of photography and sculpture at the Akademie Der Bildenden Kunste, Munich. www.whytes.ie Delaney had her first solo exhibition in the Project Arts Centre in 1994 entitled ‘Rib By Rib’ and was later selected for EAST International in 1996 in the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich. Delaney collaborated with Wicklow County Council on a Per Cent for Art Commissioning Programme with a collaborative public art piece entitled, ‘Inside-Outside’, designed specifically for Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow in 2008. She was elected to Aosdána in the same year. Her sculptural practice has integrated collaborative based projects, context specific installations, photography and books.
