Charles I (1625-1649) silver Halfcrown, Tower under Parliament, group III, (R) mintmark (S 2778, North 2213). Obverse: the king mounted on a horse moving left with no ground beneath, type 3a3, bracketed 'R' mintmark above, '· CAROLVS · D.' G.' MAG BRI · FR · ET · HIB · REX' around. Reverse: garnished oval shield of royal arms with mintmark above and '· CHRISTO · AVSPICE · REGNO ·' around. Weight: 15.06g. Diameter: 33mm. Grade: nVF - bright, near round flan, rear of the horse and part of shield poorly struck but legends strong, near Very Fine.
