A fine Cromwellian basket hilted "mortuary" broadsword, broad, straight double edged blade 34½", etched on both sides with copper orb mark, having twin bars and two adjacent crosses, struck in the short fullers "Andrea Ferara" with various stamps, well wrought basket hilt chiselled in relief with twin stylized human faces amidst scrolling foliage, broad thumb scroll, integral multi-bar guard with 3 bars screwed to swollen, foliate chiselled pommel, sharkskin covered grip.
